A Silkscreen Workshop & Party with Astrid Superstar and Kingi Carpenter

      Friday December 4, 6 - 9 pm

      Who's your It Girl?

      Every generation has them.

The women who made us want to dress differently, think differently, create differently, be bolder, stronger, edgier.

Maybe yours was Edie Sedgwick, radiating chaotic glamour and fearless individuality. Maybe it was Debbie Harry, Grace Jones, Winona Ryder, Chloë Sevigny, Marlo Thomas, Frida Kahlo, Rihanna, or someone much closer to home. Maybe your It Girl isn't famous at all.

The truth is, an "It Girl" is about far more than fashion or popularity.

She represents something we long for. Freedom. Confidence. Mystery. Rebellion. Intelligence. Glamour. Softness. Independence. Creativity. Power.

Throughout our lives, we borrow pieces from the women who inspire us. We try on their confidence, style, attitude and courage, discovering and creating along the way, just who we really are.

✨ How the evening will go

Co-hosted by Toronto fashion scene icon and Edie Sedgwick larper Astrid Superstar, this evening begins with a lively journey through the It Girls of the decades, from cultural trailblazers to underground legends, alongside Astrid's own story of why she has always been captivated by Edie Sedgwick and the world she represented.

Together we'll explore the women who’ve shaped us, the archetypes we're drawn to, and what those choices reveal about our own identities.

It's part pop culture, part self-discovery, part nostalgic conversation—and all about celebrating the many ways women inspire one another.

Then it's time to create! With brilliant instruction from Kingi Carpenter, founder of Peach Berserk, you'll transform your inspiration into wearable art through the magic of silkscreen printing.

Design your own artwork, print original pieces, and choose from a curated collection of exclusive It Girl-inspired screens featuring legendary muses, icons, and archetypes.

Whether you're channeling the rebel, the artist, the intellectual, the romantic, the punk, the dreamer, or the superstar, this is your chance to celebrate the women who inspire you, and discover a new side of yourself along the way.

Because every It Girl starts with one simple question:

Who do you become when you dare to try on a different version of yourself?

      ✨ Your hosts:

Kingi Carpenter is Toronto’s silkscreen Queen, a fashion icon, designer, artist and teacher who just loves helping folks develop their creativity and have fun while doing it. She founded her business Peach Berserk in 1987 as a fashion label, and the business has evolved over the decades to now include silkscreen workshops and events at her amazing peachy art space on Queen Street West.

Astrid Superstar is a multi-talented whirlwind. She wears many hats - that aren’t just exclusive to her impressive wardrobe - including journalist, on-screen interviewer, event coordinator, model, makeup artist, backstage coordinator, muse, and runway manager. Based in Toronto, Astrid has always loved playing dress-up, and tries to impress her inner child every day whether it be on the streets or through her work.

      ❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What if I'm not good at art?

Everyone's an artist! Kingi shows you how easy it can be to come up with an idea and make it work as a silkscreen print. No previous art experience necessary!

      Can kids come?

Yes! Families love coming together for these workshops. Kids, teens, and adults all have fun — and we’ve even had grandparents join in. Silkscreen printing is truly fun for everyone!

      How big are the groups?

It varies! Sometimes it’s an intimate evening with just a few people, other nights it’s a lively group of 30–40. Either way, it’s always welcoming and fun. We have different tables, so your group will be able to be seated together.

Can I book a private silkscreen workshop for my group?

Yes! We love hosting birthdays, team building events, date nights, and more. Just call Kingi to chat about your ideas and start planning! 647 740 1141

      What should I wear?

We have aprons available at the studio, but remember, it can be messy! Dress comfortably and don’t wear your absolute favourite white silk shirt (unless you want to screenprint on it 😉).

      Is your space accessible?

Yes, we’re on the ground floor with no steps at the entrance. Many guests with wheelchairs and walkers have joined in comfortably. The washroom is on the main floor too (though small, so not fully wheelchair accessible).

      Where do I park?

Parking is easy! There’s a Green P lot nearby and lots of street parking.

      What makes Kingi’s workshops different?

Glad you asked! The workshops are held in Kingi’s legendary Paint-by-Number Palace — a studio filled with over 1,500 vintage Paint-by-Numbers artworks collected over decades. It’s truly one of Toronto’s quirkiest, most creative spaces.

Can I get a refund if I can’t make the workshop?

Sorry, no refunds but you can transfer to another workshop in the future that suits you, or turn it into a gift certificate for someone else to attend a workshop.
